Fringe Festivals 2025
Canadian magician, Lisa Krol, and
Las Vegas magician, Jordan Rooks,
will present a unique theatre
experience with A Spoonful of Magic,
a Mary Poppins parody show at the
Winnipeg and Saskatoon Fringe Festivals in Summer 2025.
Have you ever wondered how the Banks family managed after Mary Poppins flew away? In our story, a grown-up Michael Banks, played by Jordan Rooks, is struggling to find happiness in the adult world. Mary Poppins, played by Lisa Krol, arrives once again to save the day. Only this time, things do not go so well. Will it
be magic or mayhem?
Although Lisa has been performing
magic since childhood, she never
considered the big stage until taking a magic class in Las Vegas where she met Jordan.
Jordan has been a fringe performer
for more than a decade with successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, Edmonton Fringe and many more festivals around the world.

Rarely, do two magicians take the stage together and perform as partners. Also rare is a theatrical story woven into the magical effects. A Spoonful of Magic does both and delivers a lot of fun for everyone along the way.
Lisa Krol saw her first magic show at the age of five and was immediately drawn in. Learning tricks from library books she performed her first paid show at twelve and never looked back. Using children's parties to supplement her income through university, she performed over 200 shows for groups as small as 5 and as large as 1500. Magic continued to be an interest and hobby throughout her life although performances were few and far between. During Lockdown in 2020/21, she dusted off the old props and put a new show together but felt isolated from the magic community. Discovering the Magic and Mystery School in Las Vegas, Lisa eagerly enrolled in a class in Spring of 2023 where she met instructor Jordan Rooks. Lisa and Jordan became instant friends and it was Jordan who pushed her to expand her performing boundaries with a Fringe Show. Together they will be presenting A Spoonful of Magic this summer.
Jordan Rooks is a professional fringer and entertainer based in Las Vegas. By the end of summer, Jordan will have performed in 95 different fringe festivals around the world. Jordan started in magic at the age of thirteen performing in living rooms, retirement centers, and comedy clubs. After college, he discovered and performed in the Indianapolis Fringe Festival and was immediately hooked. Moving to Las Vegas to pursue his entertainment dreams, fringing was never far from his thoughts. He now schedules his year around the fringe circuit trying to fit in as many festivals as possible. So far this year, the is attending seven different festivals across the US and Canada although it is not too late to add one or two more! Jordan met Lisa at Mystery School where he assists the school's founder, Jeff McBride, as an instructor. Jordan was impressed with Lisa's skills, but saw she needed help with confidence to make it easier to share her talents with others. After the class ended, Jordan and Lisa continued their friendship and support of each other which has resulted in the development of this new show featuring their combined efforts.
